PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detector capable of reliably preventing an erroneous detection.SOLUTION: An object detector 12 outputs combined transmission waves Wt of a first transmission wave W1 for a short distance area and a second transmission wave W2 for a long distance area from a transmitter 40 to an area in which an object 100 of a detection object can appear. A distance L up to the object 100 is detected based on a reflection wave Wr reflected on the object 100 and returned therefrom. A distance detection part 52 excludes a value detected by a receiver 42 at timing at which the first transmission wave W1 is transmitted when a distance L up to the object 100 existing at the long distance area is obtained.
