A Safe DC Stimulator Apparatus

The safe DC stimulator (SDCS) apparatus may be used for inhibiting vestibular nerve activity. The apparatus comprises a channel arrangement comprising a torus and two extension tubes each of them being connected to the torus on one side and to vestibular tissue on the other side. First and second electrodes are suspended at opposite ends of the torus, the first and second electrodes being adapted to receive AC current having alternating stimulation polarity. Valves are disposed on either side of first and second electrodes. The channel arrangement is filled with artificial perilymph and the valves are configured to change from open-to-closed and closed-to-open with each change in stimulation polarity. The DC stimulation to the vestibular tissue is delivered through the two extension tubes.
