An energy saving toaster comprising of a two slotted toaster that can disconnect the heating elements of the second slot when one slice of bread is to be toasted. The toaster has energy saving circuitry applied to heating elements of toasters which can be connected or disconnected to a supply of electrical energy by a switching device. When one or more heating elements are disconnected from the electrical supply the energy saving circuitry applies a reduced voltage to the remaining heating elements such that the power emitted by these heating elements is comparable to the nominal power they would radiate during completely connected conditions. The switching device can then be used to reconnect all the heating elements to the voltage source returning the toaster to its conventional operation. |
