The present invention relates to a display apparatus having a touch input function and a method for controlling the same. The display apparatus includes: first and second substrates spaced apart from each other; first and second electrodes formed on the first and second substrates, respectively; a display element layer interposed between the first and second electrodes and including a display element; and a driving unit to apply a display driving signal, which allows the display element layer to perform a display function, and a touch driving signal, which allows the display element layer to perform a touch sense function, to the first ad second substrates.
