摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting attached defects on a coating layer of a glass fiber product traveling at high speed. SOLUTION: A method for detecting surface defects of a plurality of glass fiber products continuously traveling in parallel with surface treatment employs a line sensor for determining the defects on the basis of brightness data of a reflected light of the light irradiated into the glass fiber products. The line sensor is arranged orthogonal to the traveling direction of the glass fiber products. The brightness data of each of the glass fiber products are continuously inputted to detectors of the line sensor. When at least three of the continuous brightness data are abnormal in the inputted data, or when the proportion of abnormal brightness data in at least five of the brightness data continuously inputted to the detectors is equal to or higher than a predetermined value, the brightness data are determined as abnormal in a first step.
