A method and an apparatus for detecting a target are disclosed. The method includes getting an original disparity map and a grayscale image of a current scene; performing target clustering processing based on the disparity map to preliminarily detect target candidate objects from the original disparity map; and determining regions of interest (ROIs) based on the original disparity map, the grayscale image and the target candidate objects, extracting line features of the determined ROIs, and performing integration/division processing for the determined ROIs based on the extracted line features to obtain new target objects.
