PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sound insulation performance of a fuel injection valve. SOLUTION: The fuel injection valve is configured so that a contact position (position where collision noise occurs) of a plunger rod 4a and a stopper 15 when the valve is opened, that is a contact position of a lower end surface 15a of the stopper 15 and a level difference surface 4e of a groove 4d provided on the outer circumferential surface of the plunger rod 4a is located at a combustion gas seal 16, or closer to an engine cylinder (combustion chamber) side than the combustion gas seal 16.
