PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a server/client system for continuing operation, even when a server apparatus connected to a client apparatus fails, by automatically connecting the client apparatus to another server apparatus. SOLUTION: A server apparatus 10 generates a reconnection key unique to a client apparatus 20 connected to the server apparatus 10, and transmits the reconnection key to the client apparatus 20 and a backup server apparatus 10W to store the reconnection key. The backup server apparatus 10W confirms an operation state of the server apparatus 10, and when the server apparatus 10 is down (server down E), sets an IP address of the server apparatus 10 as connection information for the backup server apparatus 10W. When receiving an input event signal from the client apparatus 20, the backup server apparatus 10W acquires the reconnection key from the client apparatus 20, authenticates the acquired reconnection key, automatically connects to the client apparatus 20, and executes an application program corresponding to the input event signal.
