The invention provides a surface-coated cutting tool with a hard-coated layer possessing knife broken resistance and abrasion resistance applied in high-speed interrupted cutting process. The surface-coated cutting tool includes hard-coated layers (a) and (b) by chemical evaporation on the surface of the tool body containing WC hard alloy and TiCN based ceramics: (a) a lower layer containing at leastTiCN layer and Ti compound with a sum even thickness from 3 to 20 micrometers; and (b) an upper layer containing an aluminium-oxide layer with an even thickness from 1 to 25 micrometers. The surface-coated cutting tool is characterized in that at least one layer of TiCN of the lower layer of (a) possesses a crystallites structure with periodical change at the layer thickness direction with the period from 0.5 to 5 micrometers. |
