PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mirror holding mechanism and a camera having the mechanism, capable of reducing generation of ghost. SOLUTION: The mirror holding mechanism includes: a main mirror holding part for holding a main mirror; a sub-mirror holding part pivotally supported by a shaft provided in the main mirror holding part, for holding a sub-mirror; a reception part arranged on an opposite side of a side of the main mirror holding part on which the sub-mirror is held; and an abutting part moving integrally with the sub-mirror holding part and, when the main mirror reaches a mirror down position, abutting on the reception part to stop the sub-mirror holding part at a fixed position.
