PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the treatment efficiency of the whole of a specimen feed system by shortening the non-operation time of the treatment unit of the specimen feed system by eliminating the stagnation of a specimen rack. SOLUTION: The specimen feed system has a feed line for feeding the specimen rack on which a plurality of specimen containers can be placed, a pretreatment unit in which various units are arranged along the feed line and a specimen charging part for charging the specimen rack in the feed line. This specimen feed system has a situation grasping function for grasping the presence situation of the specimen rack including the presence or movement of the specimen rack in the pretreatment unit or the feed line and the charging of the specimen rack by the specimen charging part is controlled according to the presence situation of the specimen rack grasped by the situation grasping function.
