PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which hardly causes meandering correction failures and is excellent in operability. SOLUTION: A copying machine including a meandering correction unit correcting the meandering of an intermediate transfer belt by displacing a driven roller on which the intermediate transfer belt is stretched and a measurement part measuring the displacement amount of the driven roller is configured to include a first meandering correction mode (step S2) in which the driven roller is displaced while the intermediate transfer belt is rotated, to correct the meandering of the intermediate transfer belt and a second meandering correction mode (steps S7 to S10) in which the arrangement of the driven roller and the measured value of the measurement part are initialized while the intermediate transfer belt is stopped, then, the driven roller is displaced again, and then, the intermediate transfer belt is rotated to correct the meandering of the intermediate transfer belt.
