Provided is a method capable of correctly evaluating pearl-colored objects. Said method, which evaluates luster on the basis of the amount of distortion in luminance values, includes: an image data acquisition step which uses an image measurement device (1) to image a measurement subject (2) illuminated by a white light source (3) multiple times with differing exposures, thereby acquiring a plurality of image data with differing exposures; a wide DR image datum generation step which composites the plurality of acquired image data to generate a wide dynamic range image datum ("wide DR image datum"); and an evaluation-value computation step which uses the various pixel values in the wide DR image datum to compute the amount of distortion in luminance values in a processing region of the wide DR image datum. |
