PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image copying apparatus for enabling performance of a sorting function outputting a duplicated object for a plurality of copies in a part unit in processing for continuously reading an image of a first face in a plurality of originals, continuously reading an image of a second face and generating the duplicated object of the plurality of originals. SOLUTION: The image copying apparatus includes: a function setting portion setting the sorting function outputting the duplicated object for the plurality of copies on the plurality of originals in the part unit; a reading portion for continuously reading the image of one face in the plurality of originals; a storing portion storing image data obtained by reading the image of one face of the original by the reading portion; and a control portion controlling a reading operation of the original by the reading portion so that the number of originals in which the image of the first face is read by the reading portion or a data amount of image data of the first face, which is stored in the storing portion, is limited to a range where both image data of the first face and image data of the second face in each original can be stored in the storing portion when the sorting function is set.
