DUAL-SCHEME MUFFLER FOR EXHAUST SYSTEM OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

The present invention relates to a dual-scheme muffler in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. A dual-scheme muffler according to the present invention includes: a housing; a first end cap and a second end cap which are positioned at two ends of the housing so as to form a muffler compartment together with the housing; an inlet pipe which extends outward from the first end cap so as to store exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine; a plurality of outlet pipes which is disposed so as to extend outward from the second end cap and form a plurality of exhaust gas passages together with the inlet pipe and the muffler compartment; and a control means which is provided to one of the output pipes operating to switch the muffler between a first operation scheme and a second operation scheme on the basis of at least one condition of the internal combustion engine. Each operation scheme forms a corresponding exhaust gas passage where most of the exhaust gas passes. An exhaust gas passage corresponding to the first operation scheme is different from an exhaust gas passage corresponding to the second operation scheme.
