<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of preventing development of or treating specific canine diseases. <P>SOLUTION: The method for treating canine diseases includes: measuring body fat of a dog having symptoms of (a) fungal or malassezia otitis externa, (b) pyoderma or (c) lameness; attributing the symptoms to the body fat percentage when the body fat percentage is ≥35%; and providing treatment to the dog so as to achieve a body fat percentage of <35%.
