Provided is a remote control system, which can control multiple smart devices with one remote control and can control an extended function of the smart device without a separate update even when the function of the smart device is extended. A remote controller of the remote control system of the present invention includes: an image display unit to display a control image from a device to be controlled; a coordinate input unit to receive a coordinate input in the control image from a user; and a control data transmission unit to transmit the coordinate input with respect to the control image to the device to be controlled. In addition, the device to be controlled of the remote control system of the present invention includes: an image providing unit to provide the control image for controlling the function of the device to be controlled to the remote controller; a control command interpretation unit to associate the input data received from the remote controller with the control image to convert to a control command; and a function execution unit to execute a function according to the control command.
