PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope apparatus which includes a small size imaging optical system having an imaging lens with high design flexibility, and an eyepiece optical system. SOLUTION: A microscope apparatus includes: an objective lens which allows light incident from a subject to exit as afocal light; and an optical path splitting element which is provided on an optical path of the afocal light exited from the objective lens. On a first optical path split by the optical path splitting element are provided, from the object side, an imaging lens for forming an image of the subject with the afocal light, and an imaging element for capturing the image formed by the imaging lens. On a second optical path split by the optical path splitting element are provided, from the object side, an eyepiece-viewing image forming lens for forming an image of the subject with the afocal light, and an eyepiece lens for viewing the image formed by the eyepiece-viewing image forming lens.
