PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for the sustained release of a physiologically active substance, having excellent sustained releasability of a medicament, safety and bioaffinity at the tissue interface. SOLUTION: The material for the sustained release of the physiologically active substance includes a copolymer using trimethylene carbonate and a saccharide containing at least one pyranose ring and/or furanose ring as constituent units, wherein the molar ratio of the monomers of the trimethylene carbonate to the saccharide is from 99:1 to 35:65.
