The present invention relates to a power control device for a mobile terminal and a method thereof. The power control device comprises: a charging pattern learning unit which learns a charging pattern repeatedly performed by a user when the user charges a battery; a remaining battery detecting unit which detects a remaining amount of the battery; an application monitoring unit which monitors operations of multiple applications and multiple cores installed in the mobile terminal; a mode selecting unit which selects one among multiple modes designed to control operation of at least one among the multiple applications and the multiple cores; a multi-core control unit which operation of at least one among the multiple cores using a pre-designed algorithm; and a charging control unit which compares the charging pattern with a location of the user if the battery′s remaining capacity reaches a predetermined threshold, and controls the operations of the multiple applications and the multiple cores to reduce battery usage by controlling the mode selecting unit and the multi-core control unit if it is impossible to charge the battery before the battery is completely discharged. Therefore, it is possible to increase operating hours of the battery and the user can avoid a situation that causes the user not to make an important call or not to use a necessary application due to discharge of the battery. |
