FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biochemistry, in particular to an extract of Vitis vinifera seeds for the prevention or treatment of plant diseases, caused by fungi or oomycetes, such as Plasmopara viticola Pv1 and Erysiphe necator, as well as to a composition, which contains the extract of the Vitis vinifera seeds, or husks, containing the seeds, as an effective ingredient, where the said extract represents a water/ethanol or a water extract.
