The present invention relates to a red pepper paste using pieces of rice and a manufacturing method thereof. According to the present invention, the method for manufacturing a rice red pepper paste comprises the steps of: preparing pieces of rice by splitting whole rice and processing the same; increasing pieces of rice after immersing the same and adding water; and making rice koji by inoculating and incubating koji mold into the increased pieces of rice. The present invention properly controls surface viscosity of the increased pieces of rice through controlling water content, and can produce the rice red pepper paste with improved production efficiency through reduction of the ripening days of rice koji.
