The present invention relates to a water hammer arrester. The water hammer arrester is composed of a circular drum (100) formed of an opening part (101) having a closed upper portion and a lower portion to be put through to a pipe; a first decompression board (110); a disk second decompression board (120) mounted on an inner wall of the first decompression board (110) and formed with a plurality of through-holes (121) decompressing flowing fluid; a pressure equalization pipe (130) on which one end is connected to the circular drum (100) between the first decompression board (110) and the second decompression board (120) and the other end is connected to an upper surface center part of the circular drum (100); and a reverse pressure emitter (140) installed in the inner-upper central part of the circular drum (100) to emit water through the pressure equalization pipe (130). The water pressure is decreased while the water passes through the first decompression board and the second decompression board, and the water pressure is offset while the water passing through the first decompression board and the second decompression board is collided with water emitted by passing a bypassing channel, thereby facilitating usage without filling up filling gas such as nitrogen therein whenever necessary, extending a life to be stable for a long time, and miniaturizing the water hammer arrester since piston is not installed in the water hammer arrester so a structure is simple. Economical efficiency is excellent by cutting the cost of a product, the water hammer arrester is easily installed in the pipe by mounting a flange on an end part on an opening side, and the vibration or the noise of the pump pipe can be reduced.
