1. A hard disk drive, the hard disk drive comprising:
a disk platter including a first region exhibiting a first quality and a second region exhibiting a second quality, wherein the first quality corresponds to an error rate of the first region and the second quality corresponds to an error rate of the second region; a head assembly disposed in relation to the disk platter and operable to:
write a data set to the disk platter; andprovide a sensed signal corresponding to information on the storage; a read channel circuit including:
a data write circuit operable to:
receive a write request including a write data set and a write address;determine that the write address corresponds to the first region;select an encoding level based at least in part on the first quality;encode the write data set at the encoding level to yield an encoded output; andprovide the encoded output to the head assembly to be written as the data set; anda data read circuit operable to:
receive a read request including a read address;receive the information from the disk platter, wherein the information is accessed from a location on the disk platter corresponding to the read address;determine that the read address corresponds to the second region;select a processing level based at least in part on the second quality of the second region; andapply a processing algorithm to the information, wherein the processing algorithm is selected based upon the processing level to recover a read data set from the information. |
