The present invention provides a method and an equipment for manufacturing a sound absorbing member for an engine cover. The method includes the steps of forming a first felt layer and a second felt layer; inserting the first felt layer into a lower jig and inserting the second felt layer into an upper jig located above the lower jig; inserting a heat plate, located on end portions of the lower jig and the upper jig, between the lower jig and the upper jig; melting indirectly an upper side of the first felt layer and a lower side of the second felt layer with heat of the heat plate; extracting the heat plate between the lower jig and the upper jig; and laminating the first felt layer and the second felt layer, indirectly molten by vertically moving the lower jig and the upper jig, after the heat plate is extracted. According to the present invention, the first felt layer and the second felt layer do not directly contact. Therefore, durability of the heat plate can be increased; and the first felt layer and the second felt layer are prevented from being deformed by directly applied heat.
