A method for improving the bulk and strength of a paperboard according to the present invention comprises: a first step of performing a dissolving process of diluting pulp fiber in water, a refining process of removing foreign materials included in the pulp fiber from the dissolving process, and a mashing process of softening the pulp fiber from the refining process; and a second step of mixing powder-type organic additives consisting of at least one selected from wood flour, brewer′s grains, palm leaves, palm stems, empty fruit bunches (EFB), chaff, peanut hulls, and garlic stalks with the pulp fiber obtained from the first step. The powder-type organic additives are fed by a cationic polyelectrolyte and an anionic polyelectrolyte and are mixed with the pulp fiber after modifying the surface with a multi-layer polyelectrolyte to increase the adhesion with the pulp fiber. Accordingly, in the method for improving the bulk and strength of a paperboard according to the present invention, the surface of the powder-type organic additives are sequentially modified using the cationic polyelectrolyte and the anionic polyelectrolyte, so that adhesion between the powder-type organic additives and the pulp fiber is improved. Consequently, because the powder-type organic additives are added, the bulk of the paperboard is improved, and a decrease in the strength of the paperboard can be remarkably reduced. |
