The present invention provides a winch for a ship, comprising: a base frame; a drum rotationally connected to the base frame; a motor generating rotational driving power to rotate the drum; a reducer installed to connect the motor and the drum and transferring the reduced rotational speed transferred from the motor, to the drum; a hydraulic pump which is installed in the shaft portion of a reducer and operates together with the rotation of the drum; and a hydraulic controller which is connected and installed to the hydraulic pump in order to supply working fluid to the hydraulic pump, and which controls the driving rate of the hydraulic pump to descend an object to be lifted at a constant speed while reducing the rotational speed of the reducer combined with the hydraulic pump by regularly maintaining the quantity of flow to be discharged from the hydraulic pump regardless of an increase in the rotational speed of the drum in case of releasing a rope according to the descending of the object to be lifted. Therefore, the winch for a ship connects and installs the hydraulic pump to be operated with the reducer and the hydraulic pump is controlled by the hydraulic controller. The driving rate of the hydraulic pump does not increase by the hydraulic controller even if the object to be lifted is descended in the drum while the rotational speed of the reducer connected to the hydraulic pump does not increase, thereby allowing the object to be stably descended at a constant speed.
