The present invention relates to an optical element with a variable focusing beam pattern having a polarization dependency with respect to an incident beam. The optical element with a variable focusing beam pattern comprises: a first lens structure which includes of first lenticular lenses made of a liquid crystal or liquid crystal-phase polymer having a first abnormal refractive index axis direction, wherein major axes of the first lenticular lenses arranged in the first lens structure are arranged in a first arrangement direction; and a second lens structure which is stacked on a beam emission surface of the first lens structure and includes second lenticular lenses made of a liquid crystal or liquid crystal-phase polymer having a second abnormal refractive index axis direction, wherein major axes of the second lenticular lenses arranged in the second lens structure are arranged in a second arrangement direction. The optical element with a variable focusing beam pattern according to the present invention determines a beam pattern of light outputted from the second lens structure according to a polarization direction of an incident beam arriving at the first lens structure, the first and second abnormal refractive index axis directions of the first and second lens structures, and the first and second arrangement directions of the major axes of the first and second lens structures. |
