PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feed forward control optical amplifier that is able to exert control such that an output value is constant relative to burst optical signal inputs of different intensities, the optical amplifier being able to widen an input dynamic range by accurately detecting the intensity of the light signal of an input weak burst signal.SOLUTION: In an optical amplifier 42 in which optical amplifiers for amplifying a light signals are connected in series, when an input light signal is equal to or higher than a first identification value set in advance, the first optical amplifier 42-1 connected to the side to which the light signal is input amplifies the input light signal so that this input light signal has a first target value set in advance, and a second optical amplifier 42-2 connected to the one subsequent to the first optical amplifier 42-1 amplifies the first output light signal, output from the first optical amplifier 42-1, to a second target value set in advance. |
