PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the yield of an optical module by allowing prior inspection even in the case where a non-through positioning hole is formed on the side opposite to a mounting surface of a photoelectric transducer.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing an optical module includes: a preparation step (1) of preparing a transparent substrate which has a non-through positioning hole formed on one surface thereof and has a photoelectric transducer mounted on the other surface and can transmit light emitted from the photoelectric transducer or light received by the photoelectric transducer, and a support member which has a positioning pin and supports an optical fiber and forms an optical path between the photoelectric transducer and the optical fiber along with the transparent substrate; a positioning step (2) of inserting the positioning pin of the support member to the positioning hole of the transparent substrate to position the transparent substrate and the support member; and an observation step (3) of observing the positioning hole through the transparent substrate from the side opposite to the surface provided with the positioning hole. |
