PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double side coating apparatus which is compact and has an excellent coating performance.SOLUTION: A double side coating apparatus 1 performs continuous coating on both sides of a running sheet-like base material S. The apparatus 1 comprises: a first coating device 5a which is adjacent to an upstream side of a guide roll 4b for guiding running direction of the base material S and which performs coating on a surface of the base material S to which the guide roll 4b does not contact; a second coating device 5b which is adjacent to a downstream side of the guide roll 4b and which performs coating on a surface of the base material S to which the guide roll 4b contacts; and a floating dryer 7. Each of the first coating device 5a and the second coating device 5b comprises a gravure kiss coating device equipped with a gravure roll 10 of a small diameter and a coating material feeder 30 of a hermetic type which can be laterally placed. The base material S is guided from a vertical direction to a horizontal direction by the gravure roll 4b, whereby the base material S, which runs in the vertical direction, is laterally coated by the first coating device 5a, and the base material S, which runs in the horizontal direction, is coated from a lower side by the second coating device 5b. |
