PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenol resin composition which has heat resistance equivalent to that of a novolak type phenol resin and also excellent low temperature flexibility, and shows little change in elastic modulus with respect to the temperature.SOLUTION: The phenol resin composition is a powder type and obtained by mixing at least a phenol resin, a curing agent and an ethylenic copolymer having a hardener and a polar group in a powder state. The content of the ethylenic copolymer is 5 to 20 mass% to 100 mass% of the total amount of the phenol resin and the ethylenic copolymer. The ethylenic copolymer has a Shore A hardness within the range of 40 to 90, as measured according to JIS K7215. The phenol resin composition has such a particle size that when the composition is allowed to pass through a sieve having a mesh opening of 212 μm, the ratio of the particles passing through the sieve is 55-100 mass%, based on the total amount of the phenol resin composition. |
