PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a test substance recovery device capable of appropriately recovering a test substance in a sample liquid even in an environment such as a paddy field, which is shallow and has mud apt to be splashed on the bottom, and to provide a recovery method of a test substance using the test substance recovery device.SOLUTION: The device for recovering a test substance in a stored sample liquid while floating in the sample liquid includes: a pumping mechanism for pumping the sample liquid; a recovery apparatus for circulating the pumped sample liquid and storing an adsorbent for recovering the test substance; and a return mechanism for returning, to the stored sample liquid, the sample liquid discharged from the recovery apparatus.
