PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vinyl acetate-based resin emulsion capable of improving the coatability and roll cleanability and excellent in terms of water resistance, heat resistance, and initial adhesiveness.SOLUTION: In a vinyl acetate-based resin emulsion obtained by polymerizing at least one type of monomer by using an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin emulsion as seed particles in the presence of at least one type of polyvinyl alcohol-based resin, the water elution ratio of a coating film of the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin emulsion is 10% or less, whereas the monomer is vinyl acetate, whereas the polyvinyl alcohol-based resin is a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin other than polyvinyl alcohol-based resins having degrees of saponification of less than 90 mol% and average degrees of polymerization of 2500 or less, whereas the span calculation value defined by the following formula (1) is 1.0 or less: span calculation value=|cumulative frequency (%) diameter A-cumulative frequency (%) diameter B|÷median diameter (μm) (1) (in the formula, the cumulative frequency (%) diameter A expresses the particle diameter (μm) of the vinyl acetate-based resin emulsion when the cumulative frequency during the measurement has reached 10%, whereas the cumulative frequency (%) diameter B expresses the particle diameter (μm) of the vinyl acetate-based resin emulsion when the cumulative frequency during the measurement has reached 90%, whereas the median diameter expresses the particle diameter (μm) of the polyvinyl acetate resin emulsion when the cumulative frequency has reached 50%, whereas the intra-formula sign || expresses the absolute value). |
