摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of a motor driving a variable compression ratio mechanism, in an internal combustion engine which includes the motor-driven variable compression ratio mechanism.SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine includes the variable compression ratio mechanism for changing the position of a cylinder block relative to a crank case. The variable compression ratio mechanism includes the motor which is interposed between the crank case and the cylinder block and rotates cam shafts including eccentric shafts. When increasing a mechanical compression ratio, the variable compression ratio mechanism acquires a cylinder pressure and estimates the required torque of the motor on the basis of the cylinder pressure and the position of the eccentric shaft. The variable compression ratio mechanism changes electric power to be supplied to the motor according to the required torque when the required torque is greater than a determined value, and supplies the electric power to the motor outputting torque of the determined value when the required torque is the determined value or less.
