PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of improving a ballast water purification capacity at the time of taking in ballast water.SOLUTION: A ballast water treatment apparatus 101 includes: a filter device 2 that has a filter for filtering seawater; an ultraviolet irradiation device 3 that irradiates ultraviolet rays to the seawater filtered by the filter; a line 15 for supplying the seawater filtered by the filter device 2 to the ultraviolet irradiation device 3; lines 16-18 for discharging the seawater remaining in the filter device 2; a valve 34 that is provided in the line 15; lines 19-21 for supplying the seawater, discharged from the ultraviolet irradiation device 3, to a ballast tank 5; and control devices 111, 112. Before the supply of the seawater filtered by the filter device 2 to the ultraviolet irradiation device 3, the control devices 111, 112 close a valve 34 and wash the filter with the seawater introduced into the filter device 2. |
