PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material carrier device which drives carriage mechanisms by laying a drive transmission belt around individual rotation shafts of opposite carriage mechanisms, prevents twisting of the belt or detachment of the belt from the rotation shafts and allows opening and closing of the carriage mechanisms in a state where the belt is laid around the carriage mechanisms.SOLUTION: A recording material carrier device includes: a first carriage mechanism 31 and a second carriage mechanism 32 which face each other and can carry a recording material P while holding the recording material P between them; drive means 61 for rotation-driving the drive shaft of the second carriage mechanism 32; a drive transmission belt 68 which is extendable and connects the rotation shaft of the first carriage mechanism 31 to the drive shaft of the second carriage mechanism 32 to transmit the driving force of the second carriage mechanism 32 to the rotation shaft of the first carriage mechanism 31; and a rotation shaft 132 which switches the first carriage mechanism 31 between an opened state and a closed state. The length of the circumference of the drive transmission belt 68 is longer in the closed state than in the opened state of the first carriage mechanisms (L1>L2). |
