<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for refining aluminum which allow a process similar to a zone melting process to be performed on liquid aluminum containing impurities, and therefore allow a highly pure aluminum to be refined with a simple apparatus.SOLUTION: The method for refining aluminum comprises the steps of: housing liquid aluminum containing impurities into a crucible as a mother liquid; growing a solid lump while crystallizing aluminum crystals from the lower side to the upper side of the crucible by reducing a temperature of the mother liquid to under a crystallization-permissible temperature successively from the lower side to the upper side of the crucible; extracting a rod-like aluminum crystal body which has crystallized and grown in the crucible, from the crucible; and cutting and removing impurity-concentrated parts formed on both end part sides of the rod-like crystal body.</p> |
