PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation device and a method for controlling image density capable of obtaining a high quality image by suppressing the occurrence of surface staining and carrier adhesion, even in an image formation device for which a contact DC electrification roller system and a dual component development system using a small grain diameter and low resistance carrier are adopted.SOLUTION: A linear approximation between a development potential and an adhered amount of toner is obtained from an exposure potential of a patch pattern image P comprising a plurality of patch-like toner images developed under mutually different image creation conditions and the result of detection by a reflection type photosensor 20. A development gamma γ and a development start voltage Vk are calculated from an inclination of the linear approximation. A target electrification potential Vd and a target exposure potential VI and a target development bias Vb are set forth from the development gamma γ and the development start voltage Vk. A texture potential correction amount which is a difference between the target electrification potential Vd and the target development bias Vb is determined by a difference between the development start voltage Vk and a target development start voltage Vk' previously obtained on the basis of environment information. Then, an electrification potential Vc is determined. |
