PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the transaction stop time (down time) of an apparatus such as an ATM and a CD when newly and additionally registering an IC card for SAM or a SAM chip in the apparatus or replacing them, and to facilitate the handling of the SAM chip.SOLUTION: An IC card reader writer for authenticating an IC card by a SAM chip, includes: a card insertion port for inserting and discharging the IC card; an IC contact part for reading and writing information of the inserted IC card; and a SAM chip mounting part for mounting the SAM chip. With this configuration, the SAM chip can be mounted through the card insertion port. The SAM chip mounting part has a mechanism for maintaining a SAM chip holder having the same shape as the IC card that is inserted from the card insertion port and mounted with the SAM chip. The SAM chip holder is transferred to the SAM chip mounting part by a transfer mechanism of the IC card. |
