PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance detection device, reading device including a distance detection device, distance detection method, and distance detection program capable of eliminating the need to incorporate a module dedicated to distance measurement and preventing reading of a barcode located at an unexpected distance.SOLUTION: A distance detection device performs predetermined processing on the basis of a result of first frequency analysis to image data obtained by reading a reading object image with a reading device, and a result of second frequency analysis to image data obtained by binarizing the image data, so as to detect the distance between a reading object and the reading device.
