PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor and a camera capable of achieving both improvement of sensitivity and improvement of resolving power.SOLUTION: An image sensor has an imaging area in which a plurality of imaging pixels each having a rectangular light receiving surface are two-dimensionally arranged so that a longitudinal direction substantially matches a predetermined direction. The plurality of imaging pixels are arranged so that gravity center positions in the predetermined direction are different from each other between an odd-numbered line and an even-numbered line, and the ratio of a longitudinal length of the light receiving surface to a lateral length thereof is greater than 1 and smaller than 2. |
