PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a fire-retardant sound absorber which is excellent in elasticity, resilience, cushioning properties, heat retaining properties, heat insulation, incombustibility and fire resistance and is improved in sound absorbency, acoustic insulation and vibration isolation by increasing the surface area of the surface fabric and has a high-grade feeling.SOLUTION: A method of producing a fire-retardant sound absorber includes a step 1 of inserting cotton 4 which is fireproofed and is excellent in elasticity, resilience, cushioning properties, heat retaining properties, heat insulation and sound absorbancy between a front-surface fabric 2, e.g. a fabric or a nonwoven fabric produced by plain weaving, knitting in, etc. and a back-surface fabric 3, e.g. a heat-shrinkable fabric or a nonwoven fabric, a step 2 of sewing a front-surface fabric, cotton and a back-surface fabric by mechanical sewing means or manual sewing with a fireproofed yarn 5 between seams at specified intervals, a step 3 of fireproofing the back-surface fabric, a step 4 of shrinking the back-surface fabric by 6-30% while drying with heating by a tenter or other drying means after the step 3 to swell the front-surface fabric so as to form large convex parts 7 between seams, and a step 5 of cutting to a specified size or rolling after the shrinkage and drying. |
