<p>The present invention provides a battery management system and a driving method thereof. The battery management system comprises: a sensing unit which measures and outputs a charging/discharging current of a battery, a voltage of the battery, and a temperature of the battery; and a main controller unit (MCU) which estimates a state of charge (SOC) of the battery, wherein the MCU can include: a first SOC estimating unit which estimates the SOC of the battery by using at least one of the charging/discharging current, the battery voltage, and the battery temperature; a remaining capacity estimating unit which estimates a current remaining capacity by using at least one of a reference remaining capacity, the measured current battery voltage, a first reference voltage, and a second reference voltage, which are calculated by using a reference SOC, when the estimated SOC is smaller than or equal to the reference SOC; and a second SOC estimating unit which estimates the current SOC by using the current remaining capacity. According to the invention, the SOC can be estimated more accurately at an end stage of a discharging of the battery without an abrupt decrease in the SOC.</p> |
