<p>A mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. A controller displays a locking screen on a display unit when a user attempts to use a terminal or a predetermined service. A motion detection unit detects a motion of the user, a GPS unit calculates and outputs a position of the terminal, a timer checks time, and the controller receives output information of the motion detection unit, the GPS unit, the timer and an input unit. In addition, the controller receives at least one behavior pattern, which is inputted by the user. The controller compares the inputted behavior pattern information and a sequence of the behavior pattern with pattern combination information and sequential information of a combined behavior pattern, which are registered by the user in advance, and when the inputted behavior pattern information and the sequence of the behavior pattern are in accord with the pattern combination information and the sequential information of a combined behavior pattern which are registered by the user in advance, the controller performs authentication as normal. In an embodiment of the present invention, an authentication function is performed by a combination of various user behaviors thus strengthening security and allowing the authentication to be easily performed even by one hand.</p> |
