Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device that includes: first and second substrates; a gate line and a data line on the first substrate, the gate line and the data line crossing each other to define a pixel region; a thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line; a color filter layer on the thin film transistor, the color filter layer including red, green and blue color filters each corresponding to the pixel region; a protrusion pattern at a boundary of the pixel region, the protrusion pattern including at least two of the red, green and blue color filters; a pixel electrode on the color filter layer; a first alignment layer on the pixel electrode; a first patterned spacer on the second substrate, the first patterned spacer contacting the first alignment layer over the protrusion pattern; and a liquid crystal layer between the first and second substrates. |

first and second substrates facing and spaced apart from each other; a gate line and a data line on an inner surface of the first substrate, the gate line and the data line crossing each other to define a pixel region; a thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line; a color filter layer on the thin film transistor, the color filter layer including red, green and blue color filters each corresponding to the pixel region; a protrusion pattern at a boundary of the pixel region, the protrusion pattern including at least two of the red, green and blue color filters; a pixel electrode on the color filter layer in the pixel region; a first alignment layer on the pixel electrode; a first patterned spacer on an inner surface of the second substrate, the first patterned spacer contacting the first alignment layer over the protrusion pattern; and a liquid crystal layer between the first and second substrates. |
