The invention relates to the field of biotechnology and concerns a polypeptide sequence derived from the Cp7 phage lytic enzyme wall-binding module (Cpl-7), which enables new lytic enzymes having improved bactericidal activity and a broad spectrum to be built. The invention also concerns chimeric enzymes containing the improved wall-binding module, and examples of the activity thereof against gram positive and gram negative species are provided.
