Provided is an assistance robot that makes it possible to more suitably maintain the physical condition of a person being assisted while assisting the person being assisted. The assistance robot is provided with: a holding section that is provided on a base and that helps a person being assisted to stand up and sit down by supporting one part of the body of the person being assisted; and an identification information acquisition device that acquires identification information for identifying the person being assisted. The person being assisted is recognized (recognition unit, step (S116)) from the identification information acquired by the identification information acquisition device, information relating to the person being assisted who is recognized by the recognition unit is acquired (acquisition unit, step (S118)), and drive control of the holding unit is performed (control unit, step (S122)) on the basis of the information relating to the person being assisted that is acquired by the acquisition unit. |
