The present invention relates to a dual mode resonator and a filter using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a dual mode resonator including the disk with a notch and a filter using the same. The present invention includes a cavity of a conductive material; a dielectric resonator (DR) located to touch a lower surface among the inside surface of the cavity; a conductive plate which touches the upper surface of the dielectric resonator. The conductive plate has a groove of a preset shape. The dielectric resonator is dually resonated with an HE mode. According to the present invention, the dual mode resonator has an effective unit which allows a dielectric resonator having a small size and a simple shape in a cavity to form dual resonance, and also can control the coupling of the dual resonance.
