PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blade member that favorably cuts into a coating part and optimally scratches glass fiber when cutting optical fiber having the coating part, and an optical fiber cutter.SOLUTION: A blade member 12 is provided at the tip side of a blade part 22 to cut into a coating part 2b and give glass fiber 2a an initial scratch. The blade member 12 includes a blade part 24 at least part of which is located in the coating part 2b when in contact with the glass fiber 2a. The blade part 24 includes a base part 26 extending in the direction of cutting into the optical fiber 2, and a blade tip part 28 located at the tip of the base part 26, forming a sharp angle, and giving the glass fiber 2a an initial scratch. The thickness of the base part 26 is equal to or less than one-sixth of the outer diameter of the coating part 2b. |
